Campus Tour Part III

Sunday, Jan. 07, 2007 @ 22:21

The tour of Waterloo University took significantly longer to complete because of the enormous size of the campus. I think it was bigger than Brantford. It also took significantly longer to get there.
Matt was our guide. He reviewed all the faculties because our group was huge and all of us were interested in different programs. It was cold and rainy on our tour but I cant complain because at least it wasnt snowing. Me and my mother had an umbrella, no one else did.
There are especially many different ethnicities and groups of people on campus, mostly Asian I would say. These two annoying blonde girls were talking about which universities they plan on going to which were Queens and McGill. (I did not want to hear McGill from anyone, LOL. Especially from annoying people because Ill probably need to be in residence.)
We checked out all the buildings accept the library and only one residence. Unfortunately there are no tunnels that protect against the weather. While we were waiting to check the cafeteria, these people beside us were playing ping pong ball and I got hit in the leg and shoulder. It didnt hurt but its an inconvenient place for the game.
The selection of food isnt as good as Carleton and meal plans are mandatory for those in residence because you dont have a stove and not allowed a hot plate. Youre not charged for meals you dont have though. Everything was common area. The residence is very small so Id prefer to live off campus. There is a lot of housing available in Kitchener.
Entry scholarships for those above the average of 80 percent get $2000 but it varies on the program. The university is like Queens where engineering is a huge program, but the largest faculty is arts. It is also not a bilingual university.
There are five Tim Hortons on campus, in Carleton there are three, and Ottawa U has two.
There are many many many ways for students to stay occupied, anything from athletics: swimming, hockey, tennis etc, to dancing, to arcade games. UW has their own police force, and like all the other universities Ive visited, has a clinic with full-time doctors and a pharmacy. No one ever needs to leave campus for anything.
I rate my visit 8.8 out of 10. I even left with a UW keychain.
